How do these things usually start? Oh! That's right.

Once upon a time...

A young Chicago woman named Taylor was attending Pepperdine University in California. During her time there, Taylor began dabbling in cooking for big gatherings. Having "Taco Tuesdays" and "Steak Fridays" with her friends. It became a staple of her time there. One of her favorite things to cook were the Street Style Tacos like the ones sold in California. However, in 2016, Taylor had to move back to Chicago to help out her family. She worked as an Assistant Coach for a Chicago High School, but this wasn't fulfilling her soul. She missed planning events and cooking. Taylor became involved in the Chicago Art scene and reached out to a few venues to cater her own Street Style inspired tacos. On her first event, her tacos sold out and the next show, the line for her tacos were around the corner. Taylor realized she had created something great. Immediately Taylor began creating new recipes and testing them out by having dinner parties at her apartment. She dubbed her business "Taylor's Tacos". In the summer of that year, Taylor attended a backyard party with some friends. She quickly saw a beautiful woman across the way and befriended her. Her name was Maya.

Maya grew up in the north suburbs of Chicago. She grew up training as a ballet dancer and being surrounded by homemade foods. Both of her parents made a point to garden their own foods and make cooking a family event. Maya shared their same passion and continued it throughout her life.

Maya described her meeting with Taylor as "I just met her and my mind flipped. I am usually in control of my situation, but when I met her I didn't feel in control."

Taylor and Maya began seeing each other on a regular basis. Taylor cooked her tacos for Maya, and Maya would give suggestions on how to make the tacos more well-rounded.

Taylor's Tacos began to gain more traction with every event, and with Maya by Taylor's side, they both went in full-time to make Taylor's Tacos Catering a well known and established business.

Over the past 5 years, Taylor's Tacos is thriving with over 10 different style tacos on their menu. 

​

As for Taylor and Maya, they were married in 2020 and plan to celebrate their honeymoon once travel restrictions have been lifted.
